Identity: A Unity Game

Identity was created as a submission for the 2026 Global Game Jam. The theme for this year was “Mask.” Our team decided that we wanted to take a different approach to this theme and the concept of a mask in general. Instead of the mask being used by the player to conceal or hide something, we used it as a metaphor for the character’s true identity.

In the game, the player is dropped into an abandoned world, with no recollection of who they are, how they got there, or what they’re supposed to do. The goal of the game is to search the wasteland and find fragments of a mask, each of which gives the player a small insight into who they previously were.

My role for this game was on the narrative team. Along with the other writers, I developed the story that unfolds as the player explores more. This included the introductory text, as well as the text that the player is given as they slowly find each piece of the mask.
